Adipocyte size distribution in (a) subcutaneous, (b) clavicular, and (c) abdominal adipose tissue at day 4 post-hatch in chicks fed a high-carbohydrate (HC), high-protein (HP) or high-fat (HF) diet. Images were captured with a Nikon Eclipse 80i microscope and DS-Ri1 color camera and analyzed using NIS-Elements Advanced Research Software (Nikon). The density, diameter, and area of all adipocytes within the field of an image were measured under 20x magnification. The threshold method was used to count adipocytes. n = 7 (HC), 6 (HF) and 7 (HP)
